Pornography Addiction
Pornography addiction is one of the most difficult addictions to overcome. Millions of people around the world struggle with overcoming this powerful vice once they acknowledge they have a problem. Its been compared to cocaine addiction because of similar neurochemical activity in the brain.
What is pornography addiction?
Pornography addiction is the use of pornography to address non-sexual emotional needs. Countless people from different cultures struggle with this condition. Pornography addiction not only disrupts their everyday life but destroys it in the process.
Pornography addicts, like individuals with a chemical or substance addiction, tend to isolate themselves when engaging in their addiction. Addicts typically spend many hours or even days lost in online images and experiences resulting in real life consequences for the addicted person as work, family, and other relationships are negatively affected and/or replaced by pornography.
Some signs of pornography addiction can include:
- An inability to stop the behavior(s) and use/viewing of pornography despite previous attempts to do so.
- Anger or irritablity if asked to stop.
- Hiding or attempting to keep secret all or a part of the pornography use.
- Continuing the behavior despite obvious consequences - like a relationship or job .
- Getting lost in the problem pornography use - i.e. Spending more time than intended, losing time.
