DUI / DOL Assessments

It all begins Right Here, Right Now Receiving a DUI can be a very traumatic experience. There are many issues that must be addressed immediately. One of the first steps needs to be the process of being evaluated for alcohol and drug problems.

An assessment is similar to a test you take in school. The difference is that there is no way to pass or fail. It's simply a tool that assists our healthcare professionals in getting the right help for those who need it. The assessment will rule out or diagnose dependency and offer recommendations for placement, if necessary, in the most effective level of care.

Our alcohol and drug assessments, also known as screenings or evaluations, consist of a structured interview in which the individual's chemical use will be reviewed along with the impact of that use on their daily life and relationships. It also includes a review of medical, legal, mental health and previous treatment records along with diagnostic testing to determine if a problem exists.

Assessment results are based upon criteria published by the American Psychiatric Association in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV-TR). Our recommendations are made according to the criteria published in the American Society of Addiction Medicine's Patient Placement Criteria Second Edition Revised (ASAM PPC-2R).
